Candidates are admitted as postulants who wear a red tabard at the ceremony. They can receive instruction from the training officer if they wish and the Chapter Officers have to be convinced that the candidates are sincere and dedicated before they can be admitted as Knights or Dames.
When invested as Knights or Dames they wear a white cloak with a red cross and collar and are provided with a Brevet at the ceremonial dinner. This takes a minimum of twelve months after being admitted as a novice.

In special cases the Prior General may grant a dispensation concerning membership of a non-Christian; or to the son or daughter of a member of Chivalry who may seek to join the Order between the ages of 16 and 18 as a Squire.

Although it is not essential for members to be from England or Wales to be able to join our Order of Knights Templar it should be considered that we are the Grand Priory of England and Wales before submitting an application to join. If you live outside of England and Wales you may benefit more from joining a Grand Priory that is closer to home.
